Welcome Message

Welcome

Dear Families,

As the 8th grade math teacher, we pleased to welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year. We are looking forward to having your child in our classroom this year. We have a bright and exciting school year ahead of us.

Throughout the year we will be studying many different topics. Eighth graders will be focusing on learning and expanding their knowledge of geometry and algebra topics. All students will be taking the 8th grade NY State Common Core Math Exam in May.

Your child’s test grades, as well as behavior, will play a vital role on their report card. It is important for us to work together to keep your child on track in order to accomplish this goal.

With that in mind, students will be receiving homework each night, including weekends. They will also have a quiz every week and a test at the end of every unit. Class participation and behavior will also count toward their grade for each quarter. The categories are broken down as follows:

45%  Classroom Exams

30%  Classroom Participation/Behavior

25%  Homework/Projects

Parents and students can keep track of their assignments and grades on www.pupilpath.com.  If you are in need of your user name and password please contact me.

As a reminder, all students are required to wear a school uniform consisting of a navy blue shirt and khaki pants. Cell phones are to be turned off once the students enter the building and are not allowed to be used for any reason.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 718-633-3061 or email nwilders@schools.nyc.gov . Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Sincerely,

 Mrs. Wilders
