Principal Colby Muscarelle's November Letter
Dear P.S./I.S. 192 families,
October was an incredible month - we hosted our Hispanic Heritage Celebration, our Breast Cancer Awareness Month & our annual Character Day. The students and families had a great time at each of these events.
We want to send a thank you to Ms. Nina Acevedo for organizing the Hispanic Heritage Celebration as well as thanks to Ms. Calabrese, Ms. Beiro, Ms. Bova, Ms. Cisneros-Steinert, Ms. Ocampo, Ms. Pastrana, Ms. Campanella and Ms. Kraljev for attending and supporting this event. Thank you Mr. Wollman for leading our school band and Ms. Draghi for leading our students to a dance. Also, a special thanks to ALL the families that attended this event and shared their delicious food. We are very grateful for all of your support.
Thank you to Ms. Campanella, Ms. Draghi, Ms. Acevedo and all the students and families that participated in the Brooklyn Columbus Parade.
Tuesday, November 5th is election day, and there is no school for students.
Parent Teacher Conferences have been scheduled for Thursday, November 7th. Conferences will be virtual and will occur at the following times: 12:30 PM-2:30 PM & 4:30 PM-7:30 PM. These conferences will provide you with an overview of your child’s academic progress. Please make sure you have scheduled a time to meet with your child’s teacher, cluster teachers and related service providers if they have speech, OT/PT, etc. Please note, students will not be in attendance on this date as teachers will be engaging in professional development.
Additionally, Monday, November 11th is Veterans Day, and there is no school for students, nor is there school on the 28th and 29th due to Thanksgiving recess.
We want to take this opportunity to thank the P.S./I.S. 192 school community for your commitment and support to make our school a welcoming and safe place.
We are grateful to all of our wonderful teachers and support staff for their dedication and commitment to our school.
Friendly reminders:
- School doors open at 7:40 AM for breakfast for all students
- Students that arrive after 8:00 AM will need to come to the main office for a late pass. Absences and lateness indirectly impact your child’s report card because lost instructional time affects their learning. It is crucial that students are in school and on time each day.
- Please inform the main office about any changes on your child’s blue card (e.g., telephone number, home address, emergency contact, etc).
- Please schedule Doctors appointments after school hours. Teachers plan lessons carefully and interruptions to classrooms create distraction and confusion to students.
- Early pick up will end at 1:45 PM. Please make sure to inform your child’s teacher in advance about any planned early dismissal..
- Dismissal time is at 2:20 PM. Students remaining after 2:20 will be dismissed by playground Area 4 (Close to 48th Street) until 2:30 PM and from the main office after 2:30 PM (visitors MUST bring ID in order to pick up a child from the school building)
- Attached please find our monthly calendar.
Please view the Lost & Found Virtual Closet. All unclaimed clothing will be donated by November 15th. As a reminder, please make sure to label all of your child's clothing items with their name.
We appreciate your continued support of our school community. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Warmest Regards,
Mr. Colby Muscarelle
Principal
